The Poggiotondo Chianti Riserva is made from the best ripened grapes and is aged for 20 months in traditional large wooden barrels. Barriques are not used here. As with all Chiantis of the house, the must is spontaneously fermented. The elegance of this Riserva is based on the shell limestone soils, which give the Sangiovese a certain coolness. The Riserva is spicy and structured, it has notes of herbs, spices, dark berries and some liquorice. On the palate it is full, structured and harmonious, it shows a fine minerality in the long lasting final.
