This young bodega keeps to its name by releasing Sherries of classic maturity. Extraordinarily complex aromas, intense yet lifted, a richly smooth entry onto the palate and a bitter almond aftertaste. Quite superb and memorable. Drinking Window 2019 - 2030.

The NV Palo Cortado VORS, from the 2,150 bottles filled in 2016 (marked as L1/16 on the label) now averages almost 40 years of age, as Tradición purchased the solera of Capuchino from Osborne, and the blend increased almost ten years from the previous time I tasted it in 2013. This is a textbook Palo Cortado with that creaminess that makes them unique, incredible elegance and intensity but at the same time terribly balanced and elegant. A world-class wine.

There is a new single-harvest 1998 Palo Cortado from Tradición, a wine that, even if it feels recent, is now over 20 years of age, as the solera wines don't age as fast as the static (non-solera or non-dynamic) wines, which age faster than the soleras and feel older. 1998 is also the year in which Tradición was created, and that's why they decided to bottle this "young" wine. It has an intense orange color, with notes of varnish and peach, noble woods and white spices, a touch of iodine even, complex and elegant, intense and pungent, with great complexity and nuance, layered, with a lush palate and flavors that linger in your mouth long after you swallow. This is an intense and showy Palo Cortado, combining some young and old characteristics that make it quite drinkable but don't detract from its complexity. 330 bottles were filled in December 2018 and marked as 1/18.
