The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin La Perrière 1er Cru takes its time to open on the nose, but it is well worth waiting for as it offers vibrant blackberry and raspberry fruit, undergrowth and light oyster shell scents. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, smooth in terms of mouthfeel with a gentle grip towards the finish, where if I am to quibble, just needs a little more complexity.
