The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Baulets 1er Cru is the maiden release (see Producer Profile for background details). This vintage includes 40% stems. The very aromatic nose offers rose petals and a touch of lavender filtering through the red berry fruit, very transparent in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite candied in style with blood orange and tangerine tincturing the red fruit towards the finish. Fine.

This is also quite floral in character with its equally cool and restrained aromas that derive primarily from the red side of the fruit spectrum. The rich, succulent and highly seductive medium weight flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality that adds a sense of lilt to the lingering and balanced finish. This dusty effort is actually fairly powerful and clearly built to repay a decade plus of keeping. Worth a look.
