A powerful wine to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Mousse, the NV Champagne Hommage A Cuisles 100 Ans Extra Brut is entirely Meunier from 2020 and pours a rich golden/straw color. Ample and brothy, it opens to savory, layered notes of kirsch, crystalized ginger, smoky earth, and tarragon. It’s ripe and expansive through the palate as well, offering a fine mousse, a good deal of pithy tannic structure, and a bit of warmth on the finish. While it has modest acidity, with warmer vintages such as this, it will have the ability to age nicely due to its grippy texture.
