Clear power on the attack - the tannins are making their presence felt, providing a cushion and frame to the dark brambled fruit. This needs a few more years to fully soften. Good quality overall, some fresh salinity through the finish that gives definition and a mouth watering edge. (Gold Medal, 2020 World Wine Awards)

Very pretty blackberry and orange-peel aromas follow through to a medium body with lovely, delicious fruit and fine tannins. Fresh and clean. Firm backbone. Hard not to drink now, but give it two or three years to come around.

The 2018 Arnauld was tasted from two bottles. The first, I suspect, was just not showing correctly. The second is much more promising. It has a very well defined and focused bouquet of vibrant blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, and the oak is very well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins that belie the density of this Haut-Médoc. Seamless in texture, it offers precise, mineral-driven black fruit on the finish. A contender for Cru Bourgeois of the vintage.
