The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Charmois has a lifted bouquet with red and black fruit, more floral than the Aux Lavières. The palate is well-defined, quite tensile, fleshy, and fine-boned with impressive salinity. There’s an edge lingering in the mouth on the finish. This is very promising, though I prefer the 2021 last year.

Here too moderate reduction is enough to mask the underlying fruit. The sleek, vibrant and lightly stony medium weight flavors possess slightly better complexity and persistence on the balanced, youthfully austere and ever-so-mildly rustic finale. This is quite good and the natural coolness of Les Charmois is complemented by the higher ripeness levels of the 2022 vintage.
