This Barbera comes from a single acre of loose, sandy soil located just above and to the west of the family home, on one of the most prestigious hills in Monforte. In the glass, the wine has a deep purple color, with flashes of ruby near the edge. The nose opens with black cherries, ripe damson plums, cassis, and exotic spices. On the palate, the black fruit flavors are beautifully integrated with the spicy aromas and fine-grained tannins that come from a mix of new and one-year old French barriques.
