ARPEPE

The terraced vineyards of ARPEPE are nestled between the Orobic and Retic Alps, just south of the Italian-Swiss border. The sixth generation of the Pelizzatti Perego family is in charge of this illustrious estate, which is situated in the Grumello subzone of Valtellina in Lombardy. The founding father of the present generation, Giovanni, established a prosperous winery in the region in the 1860s. At the time, it was simply known as "Pelizzatti." Since then, more than 150 years have passed, including the difficult years of the 1970s when the grandfather of the present generation was diagnosed with a disease, and the family was compelled to sell the Pelizzatti brand and some of their vineyards.

The estate's more recent history saw the family re-founded their company under the ARPEPE label in 1984, reclaimed many of their proprietary vineyards from renters, and reclaimed their cellar in Grumello. ARPEPE is widely regarded as the appellation's best producer today, as well as a benchmark producer of Nebbiolo.
